Economic & Planning Systems, Inc. recently completed a market study that evaluated current and unmet needs in Sebastopol’s grocery store sector. The report found that:
1. Demand for discount grocery exceeds current supply in the Grocery Outlet trade area, with an estimated leakage of approximately $11.3 million in annual sales potential to outlying areas
2. The analysis indicates that a discount grocer would fill an unmet need rather than replace shopping at Sebastopol’s existing grocers
3. The proposed Grocery Outlet store would introduce the first discount grocery store in the city, and the potential for direct competition is likely to be with a store in another jurisdiction

Recent Events
Grocery Outlet was pleased to welcome more than 150 people at two community open house meetings held at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts on January 26th and February 2nd.
These applicant-led meetings were the public’s first major opportunity to share input on our proposed Sebastopol location. In the weeks and months ahead, we will be reaching out to community groups and organizations to schedule additional meetings to share information and answer questions. Thus far, we have already met with the Rotary Club of Sebastopol Sunrise and Kiwanis Club of Sebastopol.
